Chilcote Primary School

A Rights Respecting School

School Council 2023-2024

Welcome to our School’s Council page. Here you will find out what we have been up to over the past few months. Our Council is made up of two representatives from each class in Years 3 to 6. Our role is to ensure that the voice of every pupil in the school is fairly represented and to promote the values of Tolerance, Freedom and Democracy. We meet at least once every two weeks to discuss any issues raised in class and to ensure that we are completing our jobs.

The School’s Council is always involved in a number of exciting projects. We raise money for a number of charities and purchase resources to make Chilcote School even better. Over the past few years we have:

  •  raised money for new outdoor equipment
  •  run a number of healthy tuck shops
  •  organised and presented concerts
  • visited the Houses of Parliament
  •  interviewed MPs
  •  presented our work to staff and governors at meetings organised a ‘pencil collection’ competition for charity
  • been a steering group for our Rights Respecting awards
  • completed whole school surveys that changed how our books are marked
  •  visited Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the ThinkTank
  •  organised Jeans for Genes Day, Red Nose Day and Comic Relief fundraisers
  • delivered food parcels in the local area
  •  entered national competitions from Parliament
  •  questioned visiting artists and poets
  •  presented in assemblies
  •  organised successful Parliament Weeks

 And much more besides! Wow!
