A Rights Respecting School

Physical restraint

When staff become aware of or feel the need to intervene in situations where children are or there is a risk of them being involved in self-harming, causing injury to other children, staff, parents and visitors or causing damage to property, they will make dynamic or planned risk assessments to help keep all children safe. This may involve physical intervention/restraint. Please refer to the ‘Use of reasonable force’ section in the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection policy for further information.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a joint initiative with the police which involves the reporting of police attended domestic abuse incidents to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, where there are children in the home.

Subscribing to Operation Encompass at Chilcote means that we have a designated member of staff, known as a Key Adult, who is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have experienced a domestic abuse incident.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
