Chilcote Covid Protocols for Parents

Main symptoms

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
ï‚· a high temperature (37.8 degrees or higher) – this means you feel hot to touch on
your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature).
ï‚· a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or
more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse
than usual)
ï‚· a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you
cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.

What to do if you, your child or any member of your household displays symptoms:
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible (If you need medical
advice call 111. If you need to book a test call 119)
2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your
home to have a test.
Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you
get your result.

If any member of your household is displaying any of these symptoms a test must be booked. You and anybody else in your household must stay at home until the outcome of the test. We request that a copy of any positive test outcomes is forwarded to the schools email address (enquiry@chilcoteschool.com).

Test outcomes
If the result is negative, your child and any siblings may return to school.
If the result is positive, you and your household will need to self-isolate for 14 days.
In the event of a positive outcome, the year group bubble that your child belongs to will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days.
Siblings
If you have two or more children, please see the scenario below;
If your first child has a positive test, your second child will also have to isolate with the household for 14 days. Although your second child will be self-isolating, the rest of their year group bubble will attend school as normal. If your second child displays symptoms, please inform the school as soon as possible and book them a test.
Children in other settings
If you have children at other schools and they are sent home due to a positive test within that setting, your Chilcote child can still attend school as normal. Should either child display symptoms, please follow the advice above and book them a test.
Testing Centres (to book a test please call 119)
At present the nearest testing centres are located at:

The school will always seek advice from Public Health England to ensure we are taking the appropriate steps at the right time.
